I went to this show because my oldest daughter really wanted to see her favorite band finally.  She had loved them for years but hadn't really spoken up about it much.  I ended up being the one to take her.  We got in the merch line and I got her a bunch of stuff.  I got nothing because I didn't know them.  I only knew of two songs.

I was happy to be there with Emily but that was it until they came out on stage and started to play.  I was so moved by the song I had never heard and was so amazed by the crowd and also so touched that this was the music that my teenage daughter had in her heart.  Sharing all of that with her in the moment was so powerful.  I started to cry and cried the entire song.  Laundry Room does that to a lot of people turns out.  That had never ever happened to me before at any concert ever.

Then the second song had a great beat but the third song really struck me because the audience was participating and singing along to every word.  It was like nothing I had ever seen before.  Live and Die we're the same...the rest of the show was equally amazing I cried in the middle but can't remember to what song and Murder in the City made me cry again.  I remember thinking during Live and Die....what is this all about???  All these people...this band all together...I need to find out more!

I left that night and my Avett fan journey began...I share it with Emily....I was able to buy the tour shirt from the Avett's website luckily and find the poster and buy it as well on eBay.  The poster is framed and hangs in our family room.  Looking back at this set list right now...I understand even more why they grabbed me to the point of never letting go...such beautiful songs...it was a fantastic night.  I've been sharing shows with Emily ever since.
